Flex Fuel Vehicles
Many automobile manufacturers tout their vehicles as being flex fuel vehicles, giving drivers options when it comes to fuel types. In reality, a flex fuel vehicle still requires gasoline just like most other passenger automobiles, but these vehicles can accept more than one type of gasoline.
Flex fuel is a standard feature on many automobiles. If you are in the market for a great used car and you would like a flex fuel vehicle, the Austin used car dealers of Chapman Motor Sales may have the vehicle for you. What Is Flex Fuel?
When a vehicle is labeled as a flex fuel vehicle, it means that it can operate on gasoline that is mixed with ethanol. In most cases, these vehicles can operate on ethanol blended gasoline up to the E85 grade, which means the fuel is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.
Flex fuel engines work just like any other fuel injection gasoline engine, and many auto manufacturers, such as GM, widely use these engines as the standard configuration in their vehicles.
It is important to note that E85 fuel gets less mileage per gallon than gasoline, so individuals with flex fuel vehicles actually get varying gas mileage depending on the fuel they use.
