Austin’s Startup Olympics to be held this weekend

Austin used car dealers of Chapman Motor Sales are thrilled to announce the first annual Austin Startup Olympics on Saturday at uShip World Headquarters.

The Austin Startup Olympics is a 10-event competition for some of Austin’s most esteemed startup companies. The games played will be for charity. The events played will be Foosball, Beer Pong, Flip Cup, Shuffleboard, and Darts.

Some of the companies competing will be Build-a-Sign, Mass Relevance, SpareFoot, Spredfast, uShip, and Whale Shark Media. The charities the teams will be playing for are Capital Area Food Bank, Austin Pro Bono, Austin Children’s Museum, and Communities in Schools of Central Texas.

Austin New Year’s celebration

Come visit Auditorium Shores starting at 5pm to enjoy art, music, and fireworks at this alcohol-free, family-friendly event. At 10pm, the fireworks display will take place. There will be a food court, art installations, a wordless comedy play, a photo booth, and an illuminated hula hoop display.

Live musicians just as Aftermath, Vitera and Carolyn Wonderland with Lavelle White will perform starting at 5pm. Parking is available at Austin City Hall, 301 W. Second St. for $10.

Holiday bazaar at the Palmer Events Center

Austin used car dealers of Chapman Motor Sales are proud to announce the 36th Annual Armadillo Christmas Bazaar.

The annual Christmas event fills 131,000 square feet of the Palmer Events Center in Austin. People can stop by to browse through booths that are filled with crafts and art pieces that range anywhere from $5 to $10,000. Anne Kelley, assistant producer of the bazaar, says, “We’ve got music, we’ve got drinks, and we’ve got everything that enhances the shopping experience. Everyone is happy to be here.”

‘Radio Holly Days’ concert at the Paramount Theatre

Austin used car dealers of Chapman Motor Sales are pleased to announce “Radio Holly Days,” a holiday concert presented by Five by Design at the Paramount Theater on Dec 16.

“Radio Holly Days” is an exciting concert celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Guests will be transported back in time to participate as a live studio audience in a 1930s radio broadcast. The show will feature Christmas songs by some of your favorite singers including Bing Crosby, the Andrew Sisters, Glenn Miller, Carmen Miranda, and Betty Grable.

Austin Country Club Sous Chef Denise Sutter will prepare a VIP dinner at 5:30pm prior to the performance at the historic Hormel home.

EPA makes fueleconomy stickers for used cars

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has created a web site that allows a person to make their own fuel information sticker so if you are selling a car, potential buyers can view the fuel economy of the vehicle.

Consumer Reports show that used vehicles may be more reliable then some new vehicles

A 2011 Consumer Report showed a survey that was taken to see how people viewed the reliability of their used cars. The survey found that most Japanese automotive brand vehicles had the least amount of troubles.

The study also showed that 11 models of cars from the 2008 model year had the same amount of problems, or less, as the 2010 models. Some of the most reliable models were the 2008 Honda CR-V and Fit. Other trouble-free vehicles included the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Toyota Cruiser.
